Guys of ‘Glee’ to co-host 2010 Teen Choice Awards August 9, 2010

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

The guys of GLEE – Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling – will co-host TEEN CHOICE 2010 alongside pop sensation and multi-platinum recording artist Katy Perry. The 12th annual special airs Monday, Aug. 9 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

TEEN CHOICE 2010 celebrates the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion. Taylor Lautner, Jane Lynch, Channing Tatum, Ellen DeGeneres, Josh Hutcherson, Cat Deeley, Keke Palmer and the cast of “Big Time Rush,” will join previously announced participants David Archuleta, Kristen Bell, John Cena, Miranda Cosgrove, Zac Efron, Ashley Greene, Victoria Justice, Khloe Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Zachary Levi, Leighton Meester, Jim Parsons, Robert Pattinson, Ryan Sheckler, Yvonne Strahovski and Shailene Woodley on the star-studded special. The star-studded special will feature performances by Perry, Jason DeRulo and Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars.

Entering its second season, GLEE is a biting musical comedy that has quickly become a pop-culture phenomenon. The highest-rated new scripted series of the 2009-2010 season boasts critical acclaim, a loyal fan base of “GLEEks,” two certified Gold albums, more than 10 million song downloads and an incredible 19 Emmy nominations – earning it the distinction of being the most-nominated series of the year. Additionally, the cast of GLEE has been nominated for a total of 13 TEEN CHOICE Awards.

GLEE follows a group of eager and ambitious students as they strive to outshine their singing competition to win Nationals while navigating the cruel halls of McKinley High. Although New Directions lost at Regionals, they now have their sights set on making it to Nationals and defeating their arch rivals, Vocal Adrenaline.

Chris Colfer plays “Kurt Hummel,” the baby-faced soprano with a fierce eye for fashion; Kevin McHale portrays “Artie Abrams,” a physically disabled performer with killer vocals and a dream to dance; Cory Monteith is “Finn Hudson,” the heartbreakingly cool quarterback who struggles with his personal life; and Mark Salling plays the arrogant and cocky crooner “Noah Puck’ Puckerman.”

TEEN CHOICE 2010 is executive-produced by Bob Bain and Michael Burg. Paul Flattery and Kelly Brock serve as producers, and Greg Sills serves as supervising producer.

Forget the Thanksgiving parade, ‘Glee’ cast will sing at World Series

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

They may not be able to sing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC, but the cast of Fox’s “Glee” will get to strut their stuff during the World Series.

Fox has confirmed that cast members from its new hit musical comedy “Glee” will sing the national anthem during Game 3 of the World Series, currently scheduled for Oct. 31. That game will be either in Los Angeles or Philadephia, depending on which team ends up in the series against either the Yankees or the Angels.

Fox had to get a green light from Major League Baseball to have the cast sing at the game. Networks often use the World Series and other big sporting events to promote their own entertainment shows, but it is unusual to actually have a cast of a show perform during the game. Of course, few probably have the chops to do it. At least we know they’ll do better than Roseanne Barr did when she butchered the anthem during a San Diego Padres ballgame.

Earlier this week, NBC pulled back an invitation that had been extended to the “Glee” cast to sing during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which the network has the rights to air.

‘Glee’ Planning Christmas Single, Summer Tour; Stars Eying Solo Albums

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Found this article about upcoming Glee music, from Access Hollywood!

Fans of “Glee” will have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.

According to Billboard, the show will issue not one, but two albums in November and December featuring the numerous songs from the show as “Glee: The Music” volumes 1 and 2.

A new Christmas single, a cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas” that won’t appear on the show, will also be released. A cast tour is reportedly in the works for summer 2010.

And, the mag reported, solo albums for the series’ stars could be in the works as well.

“Lea [Michele] has tried different songs and already thought, ‘Maybe I like doing rock,’” “Glee” showrunner Ryan Murphy told the mag. “Her album is not going to be Broadway stuff. She’ll sit with producers and come up with her own concept.”

And Lea herself said she’s not sure if her co-stars have plans for their own solo discs, but there’s one she can’t wait to hear.

“I have no idea, but all I know is that as soon as Amber Riley [who plays Mercedes] makes her album, I’m going to be the first one buying it,” Lea said.

Songs from the show have sold over 1.8 million digital downloads, the mag reported, with the “Glee” version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” selling 522,000 downloads overall and entering the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 4 in its first week of release.

By the way, I know I’m a little late with some info. But I really enjoy the show better without reading spoilers and stuff, so I try to stay away from it. lol.

EDIT: Sorry, there’s no previews of the soundtrack on Amazon.com. lol. But you can still hear Kevin’s “Dancing With Myself” through GleeForum.com or on Youtube:

EOnline.com:

This might be the best tweet ever: @neildiamond Hey, so who’s this guy Puck singing “Sweet Caroline” so good,so good,so good on #Glee? Loved it!! (@Mark_Salling must be a puddle of goo right about now.)

A rep for Fox tells us there is “no truth to my knowledge” that Glee is planning to slap back at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’s recent diss by doing a spring episode about the Glee club being excluded from a school parade.
